His Highness Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan
2018 is the 100 years anniversary of his Highness Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. This unique occasion I took as challenge to paint a Bioglyphe about Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
For me my bioglyphe is a historical and unforgettable statement from a cosmopolitan artist of the 21 st century.
As contemporary artist with many experiences all over the world and also in several Arab countries I admire since long years His Highness Sheik Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan engagement in this region of the world. Since long years I travelled to the United Arab Emirates and in 2008 I painted my first artworks about this very special country with its lovely people, enormous visions and power. Artworks as: A great visions becomes reality in the UAE (2008), Pendulum world (2008), Beginning of a new time (2008), The new written history (2008) and others….
His Highness Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan was an unique personality, very human, a great visionary and a man making the impossible possible. In the world history there are few personalities who were so revolutionary like him. He made really the impossible to become possible.
I as a Swiss contemporary painter was since long time completely impressed what was going on in The United Arab Emirates. At those years European consider this area as rich by oil and lot of luxury. May be this is a small side effect which ordinary people see but what was done here for the population, for the human is extraordinary. The deep vision combined with intelligence and enormous power and energy let born in the United Arab Emirates a new world not only for nowadays but specially for the future generations. With great heart, excellent education, visions for long terms The United Arab Emirates are an important member of our world.
Only slowly everybody in the world realize the importance of all this visionary developments and projects.
His Highness Sheik Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan was not only the Founder of the United Arab Emirates. No, he was a milestone in human history. What can be better symbolized as forever, unforgettable history - to write it in Egyptian hieroglyphics to underline his greatness and important for million of people.
A painter should be sensitive, open for impressions, feelings what may be not everybody allow himself.
For me it was not only an honour, but a must to manifest on art his unique personality. His mind and energy is not only living in his family but also in the people of the United Arab Emirates.
His Bioglyphe is the biggest I ever painted with the most hieroglyphics I have ever done. Over 12’000 sings, the artwork with a size of 1.60 x 2.40 meter in oil on canvas and the background is in golden oil colour. In the golden background I painted in hieroglyphics the history of the Founder of the United Arab Emirates - His Highness Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and in the dress the Life of his Highness, in the right arm the 100 years anniversary of His Highness. It tooks me half a year to finish this artwork but also with it I would state a milestone.
For me it was very important that the artwork is finished and will arrive in 2018 in The United Arab Emirates.
I have to thank very much to my friend Najieb Khoory from Dubai, who help me to realize this great and important project and revise the biography. You find in this book the whole text in hieroglypic signs as well in English letters to understand what all is painted on the artwork.
At the end of the project I have to say: I am very proud to fulfil this work and hope that the Family of His Highness Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan will feel the reflection what he has done to me.
